Scott R. Adams is a partner with Evergreen Properties and has over 25 years’ experience handling commercial, residential, hospitality, and multi-family real estate matters for some of the largest real estate firms in the United States and worldwide. As a lawyer in private practice, Scott represented property owners, property management firms and their liability insurers in matters involving environmental pollution, land use and zoning, financing, owner and manager liability, and federal environmental permitting.
As Associate General Counsel and Director of Risk Management, Claims and Litigation for the world’s largest fully-integrated real estate firm, Scott worked with thousands of owners, tenants, financial institutions, insurance companies, REITS, and governmental entities on management contracts and compliance; tenant and owner-side leasing; claims and litigation; labor and vendor disputes; risk transfer; land use and easements; premises security; and municipal site development grants. In addition, Scott created and managed the nation’s largest real estate insurance program for property owners and managers with assets of over $4 billion dollars.
Scott currently serves as an advisor to companies and foreign investors engaged in property management and property management services.
Scott is a graduate of the University of Central Florida (Orlando, FL) where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and Allied Legal Services. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School (New York City), and has taught real estate, insurance, business law and contracts at the university level, as well as in connection with continuing education for lawyers, insurance claims adjusters, and medical practitioners. He is the founding Dean of the Columbia International University School of Business and Professional Studies, where he is also an Associate Professor of Business. He has appeared on CNN, NY-1 Television, Fox News, and has addressed many national and state organizations including the American Conservative Union/CPAC, the Risk and Insurance Management Society, the American Bar Association, and the South Carolina and North Carolina Bar Associations.
Scott is a former Chairman of the Greater Lexington Chamber of Commerce, former Chairman of the Shannon Forest School Board of Trustees, Chair of the Midlands Technical College Foundation Board of Directors, Past President of the Western Carolina Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, and has served on the boards of the Lexington Medical Center Foundation, Christ Central Medical Clinic, the Central SC Alliance, Lexington Interfaith Community Services, Turning Pages, and the Central Carolina Community Foundation. He was named Ambassador for Economic Development by former South Carolina Governor Nikki R. Haley, and has received numerous civic achievement awards and commendations from the Mayor and Council of the Town of Lexington; the Lexington County Council; the Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center; the South Carolina Association of School Administrators; Lexington School District One; and the American Bar Association.
